    DescriptionNetsuke carved in the shape of two shells, one with a tortoise inside. Above is the image of a sun. The back had carved decoration and holes for attaching to clothing. Netsuke were miniature sculptures invented in the 17th century as toggles for attaching small bags or boxes to mens clothing.
