DescriptionWoven palm leaf box containing 7 pieces of caraweru. The caraweru is made from annatto (seeds of the achiote tree) mixed with a substance obtained from the leaves of the Begonia chica. It was used by tribes in Guyana as pigment to paint the skin. Guyana, South America. On long term display at Saffron Walden Museum.On View
