DescriptionRoman double sided comb. It has a central bar with teeth each side; one set is larger than the other making it appropriate for combing both course and fine hair. This comb is made of brown box wood suggesting that it was a comb for a man, as the Roman army issued boxwood combs to their men. The combs would have been important in army camps where lice would have been rife. Found in Fleet Ditch in 1847. London. On View
