DescriptionRenamed Caroline Gardens, the building still stands off Asylum Road.
This picture shows the central block of 43 houses and chapel behind the portico, built to house retired members of the trade. Completed by 1830, with additional wings built in 1831 and 1833. In 1960 the Licensed Victuallers moved to Denham, Buckinghamshire and the building was bought by Southwark Council to provide accommodation for local elderly and infirm residents.
The engraving was conserved by student Ian Swindale at the Camberwell College of Art in 1998
