DescriptionWooden toy model of a long narrow boat with mast, with the figure of a man. The boat is painted white with green and orange lines; the figure is painted blue. It sits on a brown wooden base with three wheels. Purchased at St. Bartholomew's Fair 1846.

The fair at Smithfield dates back to the 12th century, when it was first held to celebrate the Feast of St. Bartholomew. In the 1700s Bartholomew Fair was a popular national and international event, featuring acrobats, prize-fighters, musicians and wild animals.
