DescriptionNarrow wand with a figure standing on the top. It is carved in dark brown polished wood in the form of a nude male with top knot headddress. The original catalogue identifies this as from Rurutu in the Austral Islands. However this object has been later identified as more likely to be from Indonesia but the people doing so claimed that Rurutu is not a known island in the Austral islands. However, it is part of the Tahiti Archipelago. Suggestions on this item's origins are welcome.
