    DescriptionWoven plantain fibre girdle made on a backstrap loom from the Caroline Islands. The weaving technique and the design show influence from Indonesia. People of the Pacific did not traditionally use the kind of loom used in the West, using a frame. Weaving was done with the fingers and tension was controlled by using the feet.
