DescriptionSt Bridget's Day cross of red felt in a shape resembling a many-pointed star. It is sewn onto a square piece of coarse weave white cloth. It would have been used to cover St Bridget's Bough, a cross made from rushes or sticks on St Briget's day (1st February).

St Brigit is the Christianised form of Brigid, one of the most widely worshiped goddesses in Iron Age Britain. Brigit was goddess of smithing, creativity, healing, wisdom, fertility and childbirth.
