DescriptionHeart-shaped charm of transparent purple glass set with gold stars, and surrounded by a gold border. In the centre on both sides are Christian images painted on paper: a nativity scene and Christ carrying the cross.

Heart charms were worn commonly in East London to preserve good health or occasionally as love charms. This specimen was obtained from hawkers in Whitechapel at the price of one penny.
